Got Spare Change? Part 1


My Open Wallet took a trip to New Zealand (excellent taste in destinations) and blogged about New Zealand coins. She’d saved a few from a previous trip but when she returned they had changed. That’s right, the change had changed.

Here’s what they look like now. The difference is that the 50c is much smaller (it used to weigh down the pocket), the 20c is smaller, the 10c is now copper and the 5c has disappeared. Which is good because it bought nothing. We used to have 1-2c pieces, years ago, but they were ‘removed’ too.

It sounds a little sinister, actually. What happened to the wee things?
