This Post is Sponsored by the Letter $

I first heard about PayPerPost at an SEO expo a month ago, and now Jane May is recommending it as a way to earn some blogging $$$. Since Jane May knows how to make $300 a day from her websites and has been awarded a Sexiest Blogger title (which I’m sure would make any blogger’s day), I’m all ears.

There’s a soup kitchen of unpaid bloggers out there so I’m really glad there are more revenue opportunities. However, I get annoyed when I read blog entries that are clearly payment-motivated but don’t disclose it. It feels like when you get those emails from Nigeria, or a Mormon knocks at the door during Desperate Housewives. (Update: The Globe and Mail has an article today on this very topic.)

So if I do any funded posts I promise to say so at the top. It will still be me and my opinions, but paid for. And I’d be interested in hearing from anyone who’s tried PayPerPost and friends. Is the cash rolling in, or more like dripping in? Or not coming at all?

I think the problem with these pay per post articles is whether it will really be someone’s opinion or will they be influenced by the person paying for the article.
I was recently offered $30 to do a paid article on my blog linking to a pay-day-loans site.
From what I have seen of pay-day-loans they are horrendous. We don’t seem to have them here in the uk so I only know what I have read online but I get the feeling they are the ultimate in money making operations, to put it mildly.
I chose not to write the article as I could not imagine I could write anything nice about them.

Thanks for your comment MoneyWell. Yes, that’s what I was thinking too. I may try the odd PayPerPost but I like to think I’d be honest when reviewing stuff. If your readers can’t trust you then they won’t hang around. Good on you for keeping it real!
