Are You a Grade A Schmoozer?
As previously mentioned, Problogger has organized a New York get-together on June 9. I am going and have RSVPed. You can do so here if you plan on coming too, or just keep an eye on who’s signing up. I’m looking forward to seeing some bloggers in person, and I hope I get a chance to meet Darren Rowse, the face behind Problogger. I’ve learned a lot from his posts. The only thing is…
I might freeze up or start gibbering like an idiot.
I know that sounds a bit silly. I know he’s not Ghandi or Einstein or Madonna. But I have a past experience of standing stone-still and wide-eyed as a very famous person waited for me to answer her question. It was the Queen of England (long story). Luckily someone jumped in so her question was answered, but I was kicking myself later.
Fortunately there is a timely post from Guy Kawasaki on the art of schmoozing. Schmoozing is a very useful skill, and one I need to work on a little bit because I’m not a natural born talker. I’m a great schmoozer after 2.135 glasses of wine, but it’s hard getting that balance just right.
Just curious: if you were meeting Darren Rowse, what would you say?
