Increase Your RSS Readers
My blogging amigo Ryan Shamus has come up with a way to increase your site’s RSS subscribers. See below for instructions.
It works by copying the original list and adding the sites to your feed reader (eg. Google Reader, Bloglines) and then adding some new ones of your own. Nice idea Ryan!
******Start copying rules here******
- Write a short introduction paragraph about what how you found the list and include a link to the blog that referred you to the list.
- COPY the Rules and ENTIRE List below and post it to your blog. Don’t change any links!
- Take “My New Subscriptions†and move them into the “The Original Subscriptions†list.
- Make sure you add your own blog to the “My Original Subscriptions†section
- Add 3 Blogs that you’ve just subscribed to, to the “My New Subscriptions†section. (meaning pick 3 of your friends and put them in the “new subs†section)
- Subscribe to everyone on this list by going to their blog and clicking on their RSS button. Those who believe in good karma will return the favor. At the very least, you’ll get subscriptions from the blog that tagged you in the first place.
Note: don’t add anyone to the “my new subscriptions†that you already subscribe to, duh!

I don’t know Rich
This could be a great idea, I know that the dot matrix viral link has sure payed off for me. However I have the feeling that this is something else. I know I’m not obligated to keep anyone on my feeds if I don’t like them, but it still feels like slightly too much obligation.
I think I’m going to pass on this one. But it is still a great idea
June 3rd, 2007 at 5:58 pmHi Scott. Fair enough! I was actually thinking that it would be more work for the next people anyway because they would have a longer list of ‘original’ sites to add to their reader. Anyway, it’s all experimentation.
