How Do You Deal With Blog Envy?
Lately I have been suffering from a bit of blog envy, or, as I’m going to call it, blogvy. It’s not a very nice feeling, in fact it feels quite childish. I may have to change my blog theme to green.
I think most of us feel blogvy from time to time when:
- A ‘parent’ (A-list) blogger bestows more attention on the Blogvy blog than on yours.
- The Blogvy blog is receiving a lot more visitors. Their living room is filled with constant hilarious parties, whereas your blog had a couple of door knockers who stepped into the hallway but then left again.
- The Blogvy blog has a higher income. They announce their earnings, which results in more visitors and parties (see above).
- The Blogvy blog is prettier than yours. It has a perfect balance of colors without distracting from its perfect navigation and layout. At public blog gatherings, a band of admirers crowds around it.
So how to deal with it?
- Don’t hack into their blog and pull the plug or knock down their building blocks. That’s mean, and they’ll cry.
- Look at yourself. What are you lacking that makes you envious of them? And what do you have that they lack?
- Take a breather. Sometimes things seem worse when you have over-blogged. Return with a fresher perspective.
- Blogvy is one of the Seven Blogging Sins. Confess, or it’ll rankle and you’ll never find blogger nirvana.
Have you ever felt blogvy? How do you deal with it?
