I Am Jack’s MyBlogLog
What in the name of blogging is MyBlogLog?
MyBlogLog is a social networking community for bloggers. You create a profile, add your site(s) which then have their own communities, add the special widget to your site’s sidebar and then hey presto, you’re in!
Why would I want to do that?
Because most bloggers do it, and you don’t want to be left out, do you?
- It helps you keep track of who is visiting your site, and because of the avatars you can often put faces to the names.
- You can see who has joined your site’s community and added you as a contact.
- Your profile and community may well attract new visitors.
- You can join other blog communities and find contacts who run similar sites.
- You can email/spam people who have joined your community with site updates, any competitions you have running etc.
What are the low points of MyBlogLog?
- More and more people are using graphics as their avatars, from Picachu to lettering. Some people’s avatars look like Nick Nolte’s mugshot. And those hot chick avatars? Mirage.
- More and more people are signing up with mysterious names like ‘Oog’ and ‘Site Directory’.
- Most of the comments left on your profile/community page say: “Check out my blog!”
- Sometimes you want to visit a blog anonymously, but BAM! There you are in their MyBlogLog widget.
Rich Minx’s MyBlogLog Profile Check:
- MyBlogLog persona: Slightly slutty. I have joined 52 communities so far.
- Profile Views (since May): 1261. I’m famous!
- Contacts: 84. Contacts recognized: 20.
- Rich Minx community: 63 members.
- Community activity: Lackluster. It’s more of a sewing circle.
