What’s $100 Worth: From AdSense To Million Dollar Wiki

Yesterday I announced my first AdSense check and decided to use the $114 to pay off my overdraft.

Today I un-decided that and instead invested the money back into the Internetz. I have purchased a Million Dollar Wiki page after reading about it on RyanShamus.com and JohnChow.com. I’ll tell you which page in a few days, when I’ve written some content for it.

What is the Million Dollar Wiki?

It’s a page-purchasing idea from 22-year-old Graham Langdon who is aiming to make $1 million by charging $100 per page. You buy a page for a particular keyword (eg. JohnChow bought ‘Make Money Online‘) and then customize it with relevant content. Some great keywords are already taken (I wanted ‘Dating’) but the project’s in its early days so there are still plenty of opportunities. Read the FAQ here.

Minx, why are you throwing your money away when you could’ve invested it in a trust fund for your unborn children?

You’re right, Phantom Voice in My Head, it’s risky - there is no guarantee of making money - but response has been positive so far and if the project keeps growing there will be more traffic, more clicks on my affiliate links, more exposure for RichMinx if I add that too, and the possibility of selling the page for a nice sum.

I figured parting with $100 wouldn’t kill me. And this way, we all learn together. Watch this space!

Cool, which page did you buy?

I’ve got http://www.milliondollarwiki.com/United_Kingdom, and also bought the domain name http://www.milliondollarwiki.co.uk for a pound. Redirection me do!

I had a look at that awhile back but I don’t understand why anyone would read a site that is essentially a big collection of advertorial pages. It seems like the internet equivalent of watching hours of infomercials.

But I love all these new ideas and I might jump on board one of these days. I just signed up for a square on http://www.bloggingsmostwanted.com just for the hell of it. Seems like an interesting idea.

Spending money I’ve earned online isn’t nearly as painful as spending money I earn at work. I don’t mind delving into the ol’ Paypal account to buy things online because it doesn’t feel like real money.

Good luck with it, keep us posted! Which keyword did you end up going for?

Good idea Minx you never know how this million dollar wiki might take off. The only reason the million dollar homepage took off was because of the press coverage it received. This may happen with this site and you may benefit from the increase in traffic. Good luck and please keep us posted.

Grats Minx on your purchase, glad to see you on board! Can’t wait to see what page you bought. As you know I have the “Computers” page. Dell called yesterday and offered $38,000 for it, but I told them to stick it.

Kirsty - thanks for your purchase on bloggingsmostwanted.com! I appreciate it!

  5. richminx Says:

Ryan - really?? $38K? Wow! You really turned it down?

  6. Kirsty Says:

No worries Ryan, I think its a good idea.

And on a related note… holy shitfire batman - $38,000??? Geez. Maybe I should get onto this Milliondollargiantadvertorialthatidontunderstandpagething.com afterall!

    Minx,

Been reading your blogs with interest. I think you started with similar ambitions to me….create a great lifestyle of travel, reliable passive income and so on. But are you getting dazzled by the bright lights of supposed quick fortunes made online?

Keep the dream alive of creating the Perfect Life…its been working for me.

    Cheers

  8. Ryan Shamus Says:

    You two are real characters!

Let me go on the record of saying - if I was ever offered that much money for a $100 dollar investment, I sure as hell wouldn’t be telling them to stick it! I’d be shining their shoes for a nickel!

Anyway, it’s fun to dream, right? hehe..

  9. richminx Says:

Damn! I wanted to believe it could happen :/

  10. richminx Says:

Rhys, that’s clever. I haven’t done anything yet but I’ve bought Affiliate Programs. If that goes well I might buy New Zealand :)

Kirsty, you’re right, it is a lot of advertorial but there do seem to be useful pages in there and a lot of traffic from curious people, so you never know…

Perfect Life Project, so far I have not been dazzled by the bright lights of supposed quick fortunes made online. Maybe next week.

  11. Perfect Life Project Says:

Well if you work it out (quick fortunes online) let me know. :)

  12. Chris Says:

I think you did a good thing. If you look at the Internet today, it is one giant advertising Woodstock. So if a young college student wants to add a few notes to the mix, why not sing along?

I brought the ‘Cash’ page and so far so good. Success must be achieved by supporting others along the way…

    Best wishes
    Chris
