Question For Rich Minx Readers
Just curious - how many of you are:
- employed full-time?
- employed part-time?
- self-employed?
- something else?
I am a contractor, so I undertake various projects - web and writing related - for an hourly rate. Sometimes I work from home, sometimes I’m in an office. I used to be employed full-time and, who knows, maybe I will be again in the future. This blog is very much a side earner from the ads displayed and some contract work that has come my way because of it.
Where/how do you work? What kind of work do you do?

By trade, I’m a website designer employed by a small firm in Colwyn Bay. I would probably starve if I was self employed, they know about my blog, they don’t mind, everything’s cool
September 19th, 2007 at 10:35 pmI work full time in London at the moment but am packing in my job in mid December to galavant around Asia while working on my sites. The plan is to be able to live off what I earn and then gradually start earning more because I’ll be doing it full time but who knows if that will happen.
September 19th, 2007 at 11:22 pmI work in a full-time capacity for a large oil and gas company. I also do some business consulting on the side and my blogs / sites.
September 20th, 2007 at 12:30 amI’m self employed. My websites earn enough to feed me, barely, but more and more each new week.
September 20th, 2007 at 1:25 amI work as a contractor myself but I have a “broker” who gives me work teaching classes in the area and in the United States. I also am planning on expanding my blogging so that I do not have to be subject to the ebbs and flows of the market for my skills. The toughest part is keeping up to date with what I teach since I am teach technology and that always changes. I would like to expand into teaching business communications overseas.
So I guess you could say I am self employed.
September 20th, 2007 at 1:45 amI work as a bill collector for a bank. It’s a full time job. I blog at several sites, which earns me some extra cash.
September 20th, 2007 at 2:36 amSelf-employed for a few years now, been a web developer before that.
September 20th, 2007 at 2:37 amI work full-time for a tire retailer and wholesaler. I work in the IT department over the network and MS Windows servers and workstations. I run 2 blogs Mouse Clone and 19 Inches Wide. Between the blogs, work, working on the car, and my family, my time is filled up. Full-time should be relabeled to all the time from an IT prospective.
September 20th, 2007 at 3:16 ami work full time as a video game product analyst and i blog as a hobby right now until it can generate some real $, i also do some side computer repair and home theater install work, when i can find the time.
September 20th, 2007 at 4:18 amEmployed Full-Time and Business Owner Part-Time =)
why do you want to work full time again? lol
September 20th, 2007 at 6:03 amWell, I am student (I am from Czech Republic). The answer on your question si: self-employed. Sometimes I make some website, something I earn on my blog. But my mother still feed me, yet. :o)
September 20th, 2007 at 7:01 amCurrently ‘unemployed’ for about a month (working sucks, so lounging around while I decide what to do next). Before that I was in a full-time online moderator for a virtual chat site for teenagers.
September 20th, 2007 at 7:05 amFull-time teacher, full-time mom, part-time tutor. And the blog. I’m so tired.
September 20th, 2007 at 12:50 pmI’m a student at high school now, but I am still getting jobs for some (local) companies.
September 20th, 2007 at 6:07 pmI run a plethora of small businesses: web design/marketing, a holiday cottage rental and a music promotion/performance company. Time is stretched running all of them, but I love to be in command of what I do, and I find the income generation much more flexible - when I have a heavy bill month, I just accept more contracts or market one of the bands more heavily. I love the fact that my workload is so directly related to my paypacket - it makes me feel much more in control.
Having run small businesses, I really wouldn’t want to go back to working for someone else if I could avoid it.
September 20th, 2007 at 7:23 pmI work full time in an office, but as you already know, I’m trying to crack the internet fortune code so I can escape my (oversized) cubicle. The paper clip shooting wars are really getting old.
September 21st, 2007 at 5:22 pmWork full time in the automotive industry - I’m either in the office or out on the road seeing clients.
Would love to be my own boss one day and run my own business but my appetite for travel, adventure and seeing / experiencing more of the world runs directly against that theme.
I blog for fun and when I make time for it - any money I make from it goes towards hosting charges.
September 21st, 2007 at 9:15 pmActually, i don’t work. Adsense work for me well enough. So, i’m a php mysql programmer doing nothing
September 23rd, 2007 at 6:40 amI’m self employed, running a companion animal care service(that’s dog walker, in common parlance). I have one assistant on board for weekends, and will be bringing on a second for the weekdays, now that the summer slowdown’s over. Even so, I still do some of the labor with assts. on board. I also have an online t-shirt shop, at http://www.cafepress.com/climbaddict, and am working toward earning through my blog(woohoo….4 cents came in so fa today! I’m rich!)
September 23rd, 2007 at 7:00 amI’m self-employed, but I’m also part-time employed when I need to make ends meet - such as now - grrrrr
September 24th, 2007 at 1:50 amI’ve got..lets see now, 19 days left before I sell my retail business and move to the seaside for a few months before heading out to New Zealand. And it feels great.I’m free free free.
Just gotta sell the house, car, furniture, generate a new income and find somewhere to live..
