Sunday Catch-Up
And so another week has flown by without an update. As mentioned, I am in the middle of a contracted project at the moment and am certainly not complaining: it’s a great opportunity, new environment, healthy pay and runs for another two months. What I didn’t expect was how quickly the days would pass!
I imagine that this must affect 99.9% of bloggers. You want to blog, but work all day at a computer, come home, have dinner, watch some TV while outside it grows dark, and suddenly you’re nodding off just in time for the alarm to ring and it’s a new day. Meanwhile, the blog is neglected, the RSS goes unread, the kids need feeding… wait, I don’t have kids.
So, while it’s Sunday and I’m thinking about stuff, I decided to make a small list of things I’m grateful for this week. (Aside: I am NOT grateful that NZ is now out of the Rugby World Cup after losing 18-20 to France this morning – my time – after the ref completely missed a forward pass. Ref, you **** ****! I am not a huge rugby fan but it’s part of the NZ identity and, really, now what is there to feel excited about? /rant)
This week I am grateful for:
- Getting a nice fat deposit in my bank account Friday night, only part of which has gone on wine, and some is going into a retirement fund so I’m feeling a bit virtuous.
- One nice sunny day yesterday, when I went on a run, then a drive to the beach and a Big Breakfast (eggs, toast, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash browns, strong coffee… yum).
- One big stormy day today spent indoors and catching up on neglected stuff like blogging, and spreading out the Sunday paper on the floor for reading.
- My iPhone coming in the mail this week. I know you Americans will be sick of iPhones but they are not for sale here yet so getting one via eBay is rather exciting.
- Old friends finding me on Facebook. Two old friends I lost touch with 10 years ago have added me as a friend.
What are you grateful for this week?
