Hello! I’m back. Phew, it’s been a busy few months.

Coming back to a blog you’ve barely updated is a bit like coming back to a house you vacated a while back and simply left, with mail piling up on the floor, dust bunnies gathering, wilted plants and a general feeling of unlived-in-ness. Right now I feel like I’m speaking in an empty auditorium, which is how I felt when I started blogging, but I’d built up readership of this blog to more like 500 readers a day. I hope there is still someone reading; if so, leave a comment, say hi!

So what have I been doing? Well, I’ve been in the one place and doing a three-month contract. That meant a lot less time for blogging (time for writing, but blogging really involves reading, chatting, and all those other things that give a blogger their je ne sais quoi). Anyway, the contract is now over, my bank balance is looking very healthy and it’s Christmas holidays! And also New Year’s Resolution time, but I might leave that for the next post.

Highlights of this year for me included:

• A massive amount of travel, including a three-month stint in New York. So much fun!
• Moving back to my hometown, Wellington NZ, after 13-ish years away. Nice to be home.
• Learning how to make money online, even if it was just pocket money for the most part.
• Learning how to grow a blog from a Blogger clone to a more, you know, kinda grownup one.
• Doing quite a big job for quite a big company these past few months and earning some good $$, while making some good contacts and new friends.
• I even opened a retirement fund and made a big lump sum to start it off – finally! Now if only I could stop spending money on silly clothes I really don’t need.

It wasn’t a perfect year – there were certainly a couple of low points – but overall I’m pleased with progress and looking forward to next year. I have many plans! What were the highlights of 2K7 for you?
