Rich Minx Turns 30!

happy birthday to me..Yes, it’s true, I’m not really 21.

That’s me on the right on my fourth birthday. I will not be similarly attired this year, nor will I have the same haircut (ah, the ’80s…).

I have mixed feelings about this birthday. On the one hand, turning 30 is a milestone that serves as a reminder of the inexorable march of Time. And it’s made me feel a bit reflective: have I achieved much? am I grown-up enough? should I buy a house/dog now? a walking frame? adopt an orphan overseas? start writing letters of complaint to newspapers?

On the other hand, I’m very pleased to have made it this far in more or less one piece, I’m proud of - almost - everything I did in my 20s (can’t say I did much before that) and am definitely excited about the future.

And I would not want to be 20 again. Although it was easier to stay up all night.

Congratulations. BTW, is it just my imagination, or is that teddy bear about to go up in flames? And the expression on his face does like like he has a small fire burning his behind…

Well, I checked the original photo and no flames, it’s just tinfoil and icing. And yes, that was the bear’s original expression (Herman was his name).

Happy Birthday. Once you pass 30, then 30 suddenly becomes really young. Kind of like how 20 feels to you know. So enjoy. This is your time.

Thanks Emma - really enjoying your blog, by the way!

Happy belated birthday Rich Minx! I am almost there myself too, starting to feel like it will be an uphill battle in a few years after that :) Like you said, it was easier to stay up at 20.

Thanks Rhys and Ari! Ari: it wasn’t as bad as I thought. The rheumatism hasn’t set in yet ;)

Many happy returns of the day! Funny you mentioned that it’s easier to stay up all night when you’re 20. I just had a post about this a few days ago. :)

Happy birthday for awhile ago, welcome to the club! Do you feel wiser? I wish I felt wiser. Not sure why… doesn’t that usually go with getting older? I think I’m doing this ageing thing all wrong.

Happy beeeelated birthday! How does it feel? You are officially a grown-up. If you birthday was on 1-22, I now understand why travel is in your stars. I hope your best experiences are yet to come, and I wish you a life full of pleasant surprizes.
